I wrote this yesterday and saved it as a draft by accident… oops! Well, here it is:
Am I at 4? I think so. No I am not…
NUMBER FIVE!
Today is all about writing. I’ve been sitting at my kitchen table, adding character development scenes and some filler, descriptions, etc. Now it’s the exciting moment where I get to START TYPING!
I hate the typing part.
I always write a novel with a pen and paper. To me, it’s easier to see where I’m going with it when I have it all in front of me. I have a separate notebook with everything in it from character descriptions to maps to a list of the bars on George Street. I like being able to just write, non-stop and write what I want when I’m in the mood to write it. I find that when I try to write on a computer, it seems more like work than something I enjoy.
Now, however, it’s time to start typing! I’ve got about 300 handwritten pages to type up, print off, bind, then edit. Then I go through the typed up version, change the edits I made, print it again and give it to my old English professor to proof read. When I get it back from her, I make (most of) the changes she suggests, print it AGAIN and then, usually, I put it up on a shelf in my closet and it stays there forever. In between all these processes, my sister usually reads it, and my mom and a couple of friends. This time though, I’m going to actually send it to someone!
Progress!
